Used in .71 caliber weapons: M1829 / 46 Artillerie Mousqueton (Artillery Carbine), M1840 Ammo Carbine (M1840 Rifle Ammunition), M1846 and M1853 Tige Carbine (M1846 and M1853 Pillar Breech Rifle) and M1859 Minié ( Minie Rifle).
This bayonet was inspired by the Turkish Yatagan curved blade weapon. This 1842 model was replaced in 1866 by the Chasseppot.
