France. Lebel Bayonet Model 1886.
The Model 1886 bayonet, also known as «Rosalie», was the standard issue for the French Army during World War I. Despite the passage of time, many of these bayonets remained in service even after the Fall of France in 1940. Its use was not confined to mainland Europe, as it was widely distributed among the colonial and indigenous troops in French imperial territories.
One of its most distinctive features was the introduction of the cruciform blade, a design aimed at providing both strength and penetration without compromising rigidity, which remained a hallmark of French bayonets until the mid-20th century (1956).
This example represents an early version, with no subsequent modifications: it retains its original long blade, curved quillon, and the round, raised press button. The silver alloy grip is removable, in line with the original design.
It features a locked attachment button and areas of oxidation, characteristic of its age.
An authentic piece of French military history from the Great War.
