This bayonet is typically fixed permanently to the Simonov SKS-45 semi-automatic rifle, 7.62 mm, with the blade folded downward and carefully stored in a designated slot within the handguard. The SKS is a semi-automatic carbine chambered for the 7.62×39 mm cartridge, designed in 1943 by Sergei Gavrilovich Simonov. A reliable, simply designed, and relatively inexpensive weapon, the SKS was initially produced in the Soviet Union but was later exported and widely manufactured in several countries.
