Germany III Reich. Wehrpass of the Heer, 1943
This is the second model used during the Second World War. Includes markings from the Wehrbezirkskommando Limburg of 1943, among others.
The Wehrpass was a personal military document used by the German army (Wehrmacht) during the Third Reich, especially in the Second World War. It was issued to German men upon recruitment and recorded their military career in detail, including personal data, training, units served, promotions, decorations, wounds, and campaigns they participated in. It was kept until the individual became a soldier, at which point he received the Soldbuch to use during active service. Upon completing service and returning to civilian life, the Wehrpass was returned to the ex-soldier, who was required to keep it until the age of 60. In case of death, it was sent to the family as a keepsake from the unit where he served.
