Germany, Third Reich. Iron Cross 1st Class (Eisernes Kreuz 1. Klasse, EK I), model 1939. Marked 15 on the pin, made by the manufacturer Friedrich Orth of Vienna.
The Iron Cross 1st Class (Eisernes Kreuz 1. Klasse) was awarded for bravery in battle, as well as for meritorious and courageous leadership of troops. This 1939 model was made with iron at the center and featured a vertical pin on the back.
This German decoration is an original piece from World War II, with the number «15» marked on the pin, indicating the manufacturer Friedrich Orth of Vienna, one of the companies that produced these decorations for the German forces during the Third Reich.
