The Arbeitsbuch (literally «workbook») was an official document in Nazi Germany used to record a person’s work history. This book was introduced in 1935 and was mandatory for all German citizens. It recorded all jobs and periods of employment, from entering the labor market to retirement, with the goal of monitoring and controlling the economic and labor activities of the population.
